Aaron Brogan’s introduction to painting began at age 14, working alongside his father restoring historic homes in Topeka, Kansas. Early on, he learned the value of hard work and craftsmanship—principles that have guided his career ever since.

Aaron attended Johnson County Community College on a cross-country and track scholarship before transferring to Kansas State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1997. After years of hands-on experience painting homes each summer, he launched Brogan Painting & Remodeling with a vision to provide top-tier residential painting services throughout Johnson County.

Now approaching three decades in business, Brogan Painting & Remodeling has built a reputation for dependable service, quality workmanship, and a commitment to excellence. Under Aaron’s leadership, the company has grown steadily, thanks in large part to a dedicated team—five of whom have been with the company for over twenty years. Their shared values and loyalty have created a strong foundation, both professionally and personally. He takes great pride not only in the success of the business but also in the team that has become like family.

Aaron and his wife, Lindsay, live in the area with their five children. He continues to challenge himself in marathons, pursuing new personal bests and embracing the grind that defines the long-distance running community.

Aaron’s first experience painting was at age 14, working for his father, who was restoring old houses in Topeka, KS. A strong work ethic was instilled in him at a young age. He attended Johnson County Community College on a cross-country and track scholarship and then transferred to Kansas State University. He graduated in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in business.

Having worked every summer painting houses, Aaron immediately wanted to establish his own painting business. Brogan Painting & Remodeling has been serving the Johnson County area for almost 28 years. We have striven to become the leading residential painting company in the area by providing consistent, dependable, and quality service.

Aaron and his wife, Lindsay, have five children, Chance, Davis, Avery, Crew, and Brooks. As a business owner, his great success has been finding excellent guys to build his teams with. He is proud to say that five of his team members have been with Brogan Painting & Remodeling for more than a decade. Together, they have become like family and succeed largely due to the integrity of this core group.

John Buschmann has been an integral part of Brogan Painting & Remodeling since joining the team in 2001. Bringing with him many years of hands-on experience in painting and remodeling, John quickly established himself as a highly reliable and skilled professional. Over the past two decades, he has become the company’s “go-to” expert for his extensive technical knowledge and his ability to troubleshoot.

John expanded his role to become the company’s primary specialist in commercial painting and drywall services. In this capacity, he has successfully managed numerous large-scale projects, consistently delivering high-quality workmanship on time and within budget. John embraces new challenges with enthusiasm, always looking for innovative ways to improve processes and enhance customer satisfaction.

John values spending quality time with his family and friends, especially cherishing moments he and his wife spend with their grandson.

24 Years with Brogan Painting

John Buschmann joined Brogan Painting & Remodeling in 2001, bringing with him many years of experience in painting and remodeling. His background in remodeling, including time with Mr. Remodeler, enabled us to branch out our services offering basement finishing, bath remodeling, and re-side projects.

John has been our “go-to” guy for more than a decade. He has extensive field knowledge, is a great problem solver, and keeps the mood upbeat with his quick wit and humor. He is often referred to as “Big John” by many of our customers. Since 2013, he has also become our primary specialist for commercial painting and drywall service. He constantly embraces new challenges and looks for ways to improve the company.

John is very passionate about his family and has a passion for barbecue. He also volunteers on a disaster relief barbecue team. He is a big guy with a big heart!

Nick Newton joined Brogan Painting & Remodeling in 2002, bringing with him a natural talent for painting and a strong work ethic that quickly made him an asset to the team.

He spent several years excelling as a lead painter, earning a reputation as a true master of the trade. Known for his collaborative spirit and willingness to mentor others, Nick has always been a team player, generously sharing his knowledge and experience.

Since 2010, Nick has served as a Project Manager, overseeing a wide range of painting projects with professionalism and precision. His deep understanding of products and finishes continues to make him a trusted resource—our team still turns to Nick for guidance on complex or unique challenges. His expertise is truly invaluable.

Outside of work, Nick is a devoted husband and proud father of three. A talented athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast, he now dedicates much of his free time to supporting his children’s involvement in competitive sports, often found cheering them on at the ballfields.

23 Years with Brogan Painting

Nick Newton joined Brogan Painting & Remodeling in 2002. Aaron met Nick in 1998 when he was managing a local restaurant just out of high school. That encounter led to our hiring of his brother Jason, who spent 10 years with us before launching his own special finishes business. We were thrilled to bring Nick on board (even though he is a huge KU fan) and quickly found out that he is a natural.

A talented athlete, Nick also has a charming personality and an incredibly strong work ethic. He quickly became a lead painter with great attention to detail and meticulousness. Most impressive is seeing how 

Nick has persevered through personal tragedy and has grown stronger in the process. He is a devoted husband and a father of two. Nick is one of the most positive and easygoing guys you’ll ever meet.

Robin Thomas has been keeping things organized and running smoothly at Brogan Painting & Remodeling for over 11 years. As Office Manager, Robin is the go-to person for scheduling, client communication, and making sure everything behind the scenes stays on track.

Robin holds a BFA in Design from the University of Kansas, bringing a creative background to the role that enhances everything from client interactions to process improvement. Outside of work, Robin enjoys making handcrafted jewelry, going to live music events, and bowling.

11 Years with Brogan Painting

Robin joined Brogan Painting & Remodeling in 2014. She is Aaron’s sister and has been around the business for many years. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kansas, where she studied metalsmithing and jewelry. Robin and her husband, Shane, have three children, two dogs, and a cat.

Marley joined the Brogan Painting & Remodeling family in December of 2018. She’s often the friendly voice you’ll hear first when starting a project with us, helping to guide you through the details and keeping communication clear along the way. Outside of work, Marley and her husband, Tony, enjoy a simple, quiet life. They love spending time together in their home pottery studio, working in the garden, and relaxing with their two cats and two dogs.

With over 30 years of experience in the remodeling industry, Tim Axtell is a seasoned Project Manager at Brogan Painting & Remodeling. He plays a key leadership role—coordinating crews, managing subcontractors, and ensuring every detail aligns with the client’s vision and the company’s standards for excellence. His approachable style, reliability, and deep industry insight make him a valued point of contact for homeowners looking to transform their spaces.

Outside of work, Tim enjoys spending his time fishing and golfing, always finding a way to stay active and appreciate the outdoors.

Chance Brogan has been a dedicated Project Manager with Brogan Painting & Remodeling for the past two years, overseeing interior and exterior painting projects. Chance ensures every project runs smoothly—from initial planning to final walkthrough—delivering high-quality results and satisfied clients.

Before joining the remodeling industry, Chance spent over a decade as a competitive gymnast. His discipline, focus, and commitment to excellence have carried over into his professional work. Today, he shares that same passion as a gymnastics coach and instructor, helping young athletes develop strength, confidence, and technique.

Jimmy Sparks joined Brogan Painting & Remodeling in 2025, bringing with him a wealth of industry knowledge and an impressive background in construction. As a Project Manager, Jimmy oversees a variety of projects, specializing in both painting and carpentry. Whether he’s managing a remodel or smaller paint job, his leadership and experience keep projects running smoothly from start to finish.

Outside of work, Jimmy is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoys hitting the lanes for a game of bowling. A man of bold choices, he proudly enjoys pineapple on his pizza.
